"Virat Kohli's Maiden T20I Wicket: Achieved Without Bowling a Single Delivery!"

Virat Kohli's remarkable batting prowess in international cricket has been a cornerstone of his 15-year career, making him one of the top batters in the world. However, amidst his achievements with the bat, an intriguing incident from 2011 during India's tour of England stands out vividly in the memories of Indian cricket fans.

In a crucial T20 International (T20I) match against England in Manchester, India opted to bat after winning the toss. They posted a competitive total of 165 runs, largely thanks to Ajinkya Rahane's quickfire 61 off 39 deliveries and Suresh Raina's aggressive 33 off 19 balls.

When England came out to chase, India's bowlers made early inroads by dismissing Alex Hales and Craig Kieswetter. However, the dangerous Kevin Pietersen was still at the crease, threatening to take the game away with his aggressive stroke play as he scored 33 off just 22 deliveries.

In a tactical move, captain MS Dhoni introduced the part-time bowling of Virat Kohli in the eighth over. Kohli, known more for his batting exploits, surprised everyone by delivering a ball down the leg side to Pietersen. The English batsman, anticipating an attacking opportunity, stepped out of his crease but was deceived by Kohli's variation and ended up getting stumped by Dhoni. Interestingly, this wicket that Kohli took on the zeroth ball, as the umpire initially declared it a wide, marked Kohli's first T20I wicket, showcasing his all-round skills on the cricket field.

 Sachin Tendulkar's
Stint with Pakistan Before                           International Debut for India

Sachin Tendulkar's international debut in 1989 against Pakistan is well-known, but his experience as a standby fielder for Pakistan against the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in 1987 is a lesser-known fact. During this game, when Pakistan players Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir temporarily left the field during the lunch break, Tendulkar came in as a replacement fielder for Pakistan.

In his autobiography 'Playing It My Way,' Tendulkar vividly recalled a crucial moment during that match. He mentioned a missed opportunity when he could have taken a catch against Kapil Dev but couldn't reach the ball despite covering a significant distance. Interestingly, Tendulkar remarked that had he been positioned at mid-on instead of the position where he was stationed, he would have successfully completed the catch.

This anecdote sheds light on a unique and unexpected chapter in Tendulkar's cricketing journey, showcasing his early exposure to international-level cricket even before officially representing India on the field.

"Sachin Tendulkar Makes History as First Player Dismissed by Third Umpire"

In 1992, cricket history witnessed a significant change with the introduction of the TV umpire during India's inaugural tour of South Africa following the apartheid era. In the first Test held at Kingsmead, Durban, India opted to field first and thanks to Kapil Dev's impressive 3/43 spell, they restricted South Africa to a modest 254.

On Day 2, South Africa struck early, dismissing Ajay Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar. Sachin Tendulkar then took the crease alongside Ravi Shastri, tasked with stabilizing India's innings through his batting prowess. However, at just 11 runs, Tendulkar attempted a quick single with a shot towards point, only to be met with Jonty Rhodes' lightning-fast fielding. Rhodes swiftly threw the ball to Andrew Hudson stationed at the stumps.

Hudson efficiently collected the ball and dislodged the bails, sparking a moment of uncertainty among players and both on-field umpires regarding Tendulkar's fate. Cyril Mitchley, the square-leg umpire, decided to consult the third umpire Karl Liebenberg. Upon reviewing the replays, Liebenberg confirmed Tendulkar's dismissal, making him the first player in cricket history to be given out by the third umpire.

This incident marked a pivotal moment in cricket, ushering in a new era of technology-assisted decision-making and setting the stage for further advancements in the sport's officiating mechanisms.
